Selling a Rolex is easy to do. There are plenty of sellers out there who are more than happy to purchase a Rolex. We will buy nearly any Rolex for a competitive price. However, with that being said, it’s important to understand that there are two types of value when it comes to Rolexes. There is the market value and the retail value.
The retail value is generally lower, whereas the market value tends to be higher. You need to understand the value of your Rolex and why you may not get the price you think you deserve for it.
The Cost of Business
A common tactic among a lot of private companies is to offer you a lower value for the Rolex than you think it is worth. You might have gone online and done research to discover that your Rolex is worth $1000. However, somebody only offers you $700. This doesn’t make sense to you, but from a retail perspective, it makes a lot of sense.
Lots of private companies and businesses will offer you a lower value because they have to sell the Rolex and make money from it. If they offer you a lower price, this means that they then have to take it from you, give you the money, and then spend money getting the Rolex ready to be sold before they can see a profit. This means they have to do things like basic maintenance, cleaning, and advertising.
Understandably, these costs have to come from somewhere, and this is usually reflected in the lower offers that you get from a lot of private buyers.
We Don’t Lowball
We encourage you to take a proper look at the market value of your Rolex and have that figure on hand when you look around to try and make a sale. We personally don’t believe in lowballing our customers, so it’s not something we believe in doing. We will give you the full market value of your Rolex wherever we can because we know that you want to get as much money as possible.
The only situation where this won’t apply at all is usually at the hands of private collectors who are more than happy to pay full price for a Rolex because they’re not trying to sell it – they’re adding it to their collection. However, these people are often few and far between, so your best bet is usually picking a company that’s going to give you a good deal.
Sell Smart
Ultimately, when it comes to selling a Rolex, it’s important to be wary of this particular part of private sales. We will never try and do this, but there are lots of companies that do, so we don’t recommend going to them. It’s important to know what the market value of your Rolex is because you need to be able to make the right decisions with it. We’re here to help!
