You probably already know that jogging can be a great sport for fun and terrific health. You can simply step outside your door and start jogging or running, and you will be taking in more oxygen and burning calories. We’re going to talk about what you can do to have more fun and get more fit from jogging.
It’s critically important to do a pre and post jogging stretching routine. Stretching and warming up is extremely important, and you can avoid possible injury. There is obvious impact when you run, or jog, and the stretching warms up your muscles, makes them more flexible and able to safely absorb the impact. When you stretch, don’t go too far or bounce, and just focus on relaxing your body. Remember that if you are too aggressive when you stretch you can actually cause injuries, so go slow – no bouncing. If you’re not familiar with stretching exercises, just keep in mind that you do not want to be a macho person and stretch “until it hurts.” That is incorrect and dangerous stretching.
Always relax during your stretches, once again, and just take it easy – no world records need to be set. For those that haven’t exercised in awhile, it’s a good idea to talk to your doctor before you start jogging. If you have any health problems, this is especially important. While almost everyone could benefit from jogging, your doctor will have specific advice for you based on your medical history. Because jogging can be adapted to work with any fitness level, chances are your doctor will encourage you to give it a try. It’s still a good idea to consult with him or her, however, in case there are any special precautions you should take.
It’s really important to properly hydrate prior to every single run, or jog. You should give yourself time to digest if you have eaten something – about an hour or two. No confusion about the best thing to drink for hydration – simple water, nothing more or less. Like food, if you drink too much water you can get cramps and vomit. If you want to carry a water bottle with you when you jog, you can but it’s really not necessary unless you’re running a very good distance. Never drink water that has a color you cannot name – clear water is the ticket. No matter how cool or cold it is when you run, it’s very important to drink fluids and that means water, and be sure you do it after you jog. In conclusion, use the techniques for jogging that we just talked about to get your health back to where you want it to be, and also so that you keep your motivation high. Just remember that a running routine must be merged into your currently life’s routine if you hope to receive maximum benefit from it. That’s why you must keep your wits and your senses about you when you are running so that you can avoid many of the problems that cause most joggers to give up.
